the hour of recharge

In life things can get pretty routine and mundane. But I'm sure in the light of such uniformity, we do factor in times that we enjoy more than the rest of the day. It's something like when I was in the army, everyday when I wake up, I'll look forward to dinner because after that will be my own time to do my own things, and when night falls, I just pray that it doesn't go by that quickly. And it's pretty much the same logic for day-to-day life. It may be a tv programme that you are looking forward to, it may be a phonecall you make every night, it may be that one hour of gaming you are entitled to per night, or it may just be hanging around online; you look forward to these times because you can do something you enjoy, or at the very least you can do something which you don't exactly dislike. It's that duration when you feel the most yourself, the most relaxed, the most laid-back, and the most human.

And then we relish in every single moment of it. But even in the midst of enjoying, you start to face the reality of counting down to the end of that short duration, and hoping that time would stay still just there and then. But of course, things don't work that way and soon you find yourself back to square one again - that short duration of haven passes and you find yourself craving for it to come again quickly the next day.

Indeed, it's such things that keep us going isn't it? Soon, you find yourself living through each day just for that few moments - it's that knowledge of certainty that you will have your sacred time which makes you grit your teeth through the day, pressing on for what means so much to you.
